Using the state-of-the-art Finn-Power® 10 Series turret punch press, Hi-Form™ dies are maintained at a position that is equal to or lower than standard dies when the sheet is being moved. Forms are produced as the ram lowers the punch to the top of the material and the machine actually "lifts" the die and die holder up. When the forming operation is complete, the die is lowered to its original position. Consequently, while some forms as high as .630" (16mm) in total height can be produced, and possibly higher depending upon the application, damage to the lower surface of the material and material distortion-caused by oversized dies-is minimized. This is especially beneficial when punching material such as aluminum, stainless steel, and coated materials. Additionally, since the material plane remains constant, it is possible to perform forming operations closer to the clamps. Hi-Form™ tooling was developed through an ongoing partnership between the Finn-Power® International, Inc. and Wilson Tool International®. Request Literature
